DIRECTIONS
Approaching by road from the South
Follow the A9 north from Perth until approaching Aviemore. Stay on the main road past the first turning into Aviemore and come off at the second turning sign-posted to Aviemore and Boat of Garten. Turn left at the bottom of the slip road and continue along the main road. Pass junction going left to Carrbridge and continue on road going right to Boat of Garten, Nethy Bridge, Grantown on Spey. A couple of hundred metres after that junction take a right turn down to Boat of Garten. This will lead you through the village of Boat of Garten. Follow the main road all the way through the village, going round to the left at the Boat Hotel and then bearing sharp right at the end of the street down past the Golf Club and over the Spey. At the end of this road, at T junction, turn left and then about 800 metres first right signed toward Loch Garten.
Keep going along this road passing Loch Garten on your right and then the RSPB Reserve on your left and through trees until you come to a right turn to Tulloch. Take this road and continue along it passing a small stone house with a large wooden extension and on after that to a small gathering of houses where the road bears round to the left and there is a post box on the wall of Aundorrach Steading. Carry on for about three-quarters of a mile (two new houses and barn on the right three-quarters of a mile ( two new houses on your left, an old cottage with modern extension and a converted old cottage with modern extension on your left and a converted barn on the right). The road winds up and down for a few hundred yards after that; there is another new house built in the woods to you right and soon after that the road rises up and turns a bend. Carry on past a right into a farm road with signs to Boxwood and Juniper Brae. Do not go down this but carry on winding up the hill on the tarmac road. Slow down when you pass a small cottage called Cherrybank on your right. You will come to a large farm gate on your left just before Torehill Cottage. On the gate should be the sign to Braenedin cottage.
Open gate and go 250 metres up the track. This track is quite bumpy due to tree roots. Braenedin will be at the top. You have arrived and if the sun is shining, all the better! Please park in front of the wooden garage and do NOT park on track in front of wall to field. This will block the farmer’s access and he will not be happy.

It was great to have some returning guests from May, when the guidelines changed, as well as visitors who had shifted their holidays from last year.
Snippets from the guestbook below show how much everyone was delighted to be somewhere new; and Braenedin, the Spey Valley and the Cairngorms didn't disappoint. We love reading these for loads of reasons; they give us a warm glow, to check what wildlife has been spotted and getting new ideas for walks or activities to try.
The Scottish Government stated that the guidelines on self-catering will change from Friday 25 September 2020. There is now a one household restriction in self-catering properties, in-line with the restrictions in private homes in Scotland.
